(A soirée generally refers to an evening party or gathering, typically in a private house, for conversation or music and after all we are meeting in a former home, and it is in the evening, and poetry and storytelling are forms of music to my ears, so soirée is a fitting term)
The Summer Soiree Series got off to a great start in June with Lew Jones and Katherine Grace-Bond followed by James Bertolino and Dorothy Lemoult in July.
August concludes the series with Marjorie Rommel, Auburn's Poet Laureate and Cindy Hutchings, author of Tree Talk. Both live in the Auburn area and have been instrumental in organizing poetry and other literary events in their community.
We have had good turnouts for all the summer readings and I am hoping to see many of you at the August reading.
